Three worked examples
How Upfirst compares with the cheapest product we found for three common call patterns (Goodcall counted as every call from a different person):
| Scenario | Upfirst | Cheapest of all ten |
|---|---|---|
| A solo operator: 40 calls at 2 min | $39.95 (Starter) | $38.60 (Dialzara) |
| A busy office: 250 calls at 4 min | $159.95 (Pro) | $129 (Goodcall) |
| A multi-location business: 800 calls at 3 min | $439 (Scale) | $199 (NextPhone) |
Which Upfirst plan to choose
The cheapest Upfirst plan at each monthly volume, up to 2,000 calls, at list prices. Upgrading earlier can still make sense for features on the higher plan.
| Plan | Cheapest for | Monthly cost in that range |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 1 to 53 calls | $24.95 to $59.45 |
| Premium | 54 to 190 calls | $59.95 to $159.95 |
| Pro | 191 to 485 calls | $159.95 to $298.70 |
| Scale | 486 calls and up | $299 to $1,279 |
Switch points: Starter to Premium at 54 calls; Premium to Pro at 191 calls; Pro to Scale at 486 calls. Below each point, the smaller plan plus its overage costs less than moving up.
Annual billing
Upfirst publishes annual prices. What paying yearly saves on each plan:
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing, per month | Saved per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $24.95 | $20 | $59.40 |
| Premium | $59.95 | $48 | $143.40 |
| Pro | $159.95 | $128 | $383.40 |
| Scale | $299 | $240 | $708 |
How Upfirst counts usage
- Spam, telemarketing and robocalls are detected and "don't count against your plan".
- Calls under 15 seconds are not billed.
- Calls where the caller never speaks (pocket dials) are not billed.
- Billed and unbilled calls are both labeled in your call log, so you can check the count.
